Blogmas Day 10: Christmas Items I Want To Crochet

Hello and welcome to Day 10 of Blogmas content! Today I want to look at decorations and trinkets that I’d love to crochet in the run up to Christmas.

I love Christmas decorations, but I always think there is something particularly special about having handmade decorations around. They’re nice keepsakes and gifts for other people.

I’ve not made up many Christmas gifts for people this year, and all I’m focusing on at the moment is the d’Histoire Naturelle blanket, but I’d like to work on a couple of little things and decorations seem like a good starting point. That being said, I don’t know if I’ll end up making any at all.

They’re very hypothetical ideas.

Snowflakes

I’ve used a tutorial by Bella Coco in the past but it is a range of snowflakes on LoveCrafts and Ravelry that have caught my attention right now. There are four in total – a Winter Flower, Frosted Lace, Flower Star and Sun Star Snowflake – and they’re all gorgeous. I think they’re made with crochet thread, which I haven’t used before as it is rather thin, but I don’t see why I can’t use a slightly thicker yarn and have them as door ornaments rather than hanging decorations for the Christmas tree.

Coaster/Doilies

The pattern I’m thinking of is this one by Rebekah at Blossom Crochet.

They look very festive and I know I should have the Christmas red, white and greens in stash. I think they’d be nice on the table underneath a bowl of festive chocolates or snacks.

Baubles

I haven’t decided if I’ll use a online pattern or just make up my own. I’ve seen some rather snazzy ones and they look cool but as I’ve never done them before, I don’t know whether to keep them plain and simple using Christmassy colours. I’d also just use toy stuffing for the inside.

Fingerless Mitts

These are not necessarily Christmassy but I think mitts in sparkly Christmas colours will look very festive. Also, my hands will be very appreciative of them on the cold mornings when I’m walking one of the dogs.

I’ll think I’ll leave it at four things because I can’t think of anything else I’m itching to make. I’d love to be able to make some amigurumi like stars, a Christmas tree or Father Christmas, but I’m currently not in the mood for tiny, fiddly projects and they take me longer than they should to make.

If you do any crafts, what are you looking forward to making in the run up to Christmas?

As always thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!

Hello, I’m Emma aka pageturner92, and welcome to my little corner of the online book world. When I don’t have my head in a book, I’m either working on an endless pile of crochet or knitting projects, playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, listening to Disney music, or watching my favourite shows on repeat.
