Hello!
Welcome to a Book Unhaul series I’m calling ‘Clearing the Shelves’ – simply a nice way of saying I want to get rid of some books in order to have space for new books.
I don’t have endless shelf space and I want my shelves to represent the reader I am now so some books have to go.
I’ll add them to the growing pile of boxes in our spare room until I decide what to do with them.
Unfortunately for my shelves I am only unhauling four books, but it is a start.
The Alice Network by Kate Quinn – Simply a duplicate. I am interested in reading this at some point but I’d completely forgotten when I bought it that I’d already downloaded it to my Kindle and the ebook is more accessible for me.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of The Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz – I can’t remember when I last read this (probably about four years or five years ago) but I know the couple of times I did read it, I loved it. I found it to be an incredibly heartwarming story so I’ve been holding on to it for nostalgia ever since. However, my YA Contemporary phase is gone and out of all the ones I might possibly re-read, this isn’t one of them. I’ll be happier passing this to teens who will get something out of it.
The Gilded King by Josie Jaffrey – I was high with YALC fever when I purchased this back in 2018. I wanted to make the most of my time there and buy books I probably wouldn’t find anywhere else. However, three years down the line and I’ve never picked it up, or even thought about reading it so I probably never will. The blurb doesn’t really interest me anymore either so it is time to part with it.
Passenger by Alexandra Bracken – A book I DNFed as I wasn’t in the mood to read it even though I was intrigued by the story. Now a few months have passed, that interest and intrigue has waned enough for me to never consider reading it again. It has also been on my shelves a long time now and I’m ready to part with it.
And there we have it. The four books I’m unhauling. As I said, I don’t know what I’ll do with them yet but I’m sure I’ll find a home for them at some point.

Do you unhaul books?
Have you unhauled any recently?
As always, thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
xx
You are incredibly kind to give away these books!! I tried once. It didn’t end well. I gave away a few books and then later I ended up crying about it 😂😅 I am really attached to my books XD. Great post!

It’s something I’ve always done, and I don’t always need the physical books to remember the memories. I have regretted getting rid of a couple of books but for the most part, I’m happy to make space for new stories and worlds to discover.

i think i’ve unhauled about 100 books this year. i’ve been trying so hard to reduce the amount that i have, but it feels never ending. congrats on a good start! any book is better than no book.

Including this list, I’ve unhauled quite a few books already this year and that number will just grow as I come across a book I don’t like. Thankfully, I have no qualms about unhauling books.
