Hello!
It has been a few months since I’ve done a TAG post so it is high time I did another one. I stumbled across this particular tag on @Maggie’sDoodles, and as I’m notoriously terrible at putting off books, I feel this is the perfect one for me.
Rules
- Link back to the original post at Quote, Unquote so the creator can read your answers.
- Link back to the post of the person who tagged you and thank them.
- You may use the included graphic anywhere in your post, but you don’t have to.
- Fill all seven categories/questions.
- You can either leave this tag open so anyone can do it or tag up to seven people.
Questions:
A classic book you have been meaning to read forever but haven’t yet.
There are many! Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood, Shirley by Charlotte Brontë, The Old Curiosity Shop by Charles Dickens…..
I don’t read as many classics as I used to so they’ve been on my “owned-TBR” for years!

A book on your shelf that you haven’t read yet.
I have quite a lot of unread books, but one I thought I would have actually read by now and haven’t is Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. I love fairytale retellings/reimaginings and really enjoyed Uprooted when I read that a few years ago but I’ve never quite got round to picking up Spinning Silver. Even though I’ve heard mixed things, I’m hoping I’ll still enjoy it.
A book that you got recently but haven’t read.
I’ll leave a link to my NYALF book haul as technically they are my most recent, unread acquisitions but I’ve had one pre-order come in lately that I’ve not read and subsequently talked a lot about yet which is The Dance Tree by Kiran Millwood-Hargrave. I need to get my act together and read her adult books so hopefully, I will get to this and The Mercies soon!
A book that you’ve had forever but haven’t read.
I do regularly unhaul books I’ve had forever and have lost interest in reading but one I still have on the shelves that I’ve owned since its initial release is The Sunrise by Victoria Hislop. It, unfortunately, came out in 2014 when I was discovering YA lit and the online book community so it got pushed aside for other books and I haven’t come back to it yet. However, we are at the time of year when I start getting in the mood for these types of books (see genres I gravitate to during spring and summer) so maybe you’ll finally see it in a July or August wrap up.
A book that a friend recommended that you haven’t read
I’ll confess that I am very slow to read all the books my IRL bookworm friends recommend, but one of the most notable books is Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard. This is the third main book in the Truthwitch series and I keep putting it off because it is rather thick and even though I do really like the series, I don’t love it as much as they do.
A book that you are procrastinating on
I’ve just admitted to procrastinating on Bloodwitch, but I’ve three other books and series I must be procrastinating on more: The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon, The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman and the Chronicles of St Mary’s series by Jodi Taylor. I’ve heard really mixed things about The Secret Commonwealth which is why I haven’t attempted to read that chonker yet, but the other two have storylines and plots that just grow with intensity and my brain can’t currently deal with the anxiety I’ll ultimately feel for the characters so I’ve been constantly putting them off for other books.

The next book on your tbr
I don’t have a fixed TBR per se as I’m very much a mood reader. However, I’m slowly making my way through Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho and I want to try reading its sequel/companion novel The True Queen when I’ve finally finished it.
There we have it. I am going to leave this tag open for everyone, but if you are some of the first to read and like this post, consider yourselves tagged!
What are some books you have not got around to reading yet?
Thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
xx
Oh man, I feel called out by this tag. 😉 There are so many books I was excited to get and yet still haven’t read.

Ooh! There are some good books on this list. Thanks for doing my tag! (I love your blog’s aesthetic, by the way!)

Thank you for creating such a good tag. Also, thank you for saying that because blog design and aesthetic is the part of blogging I really struggle with, so it is nice to know someone likes it.

Great post!
The Handmaid’s Tale is such a good read, and the TV show is just as good! Definitely a book worth checking out!
I really want to read the My Brilliant Friend book series. I’ve had the first book for awhile now, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. Hopefully, next year.
