Hello! I’m back to blogging again after my hiatus and I’m back with a bang because I’ve stupidly decided to participate in Blogmas. However, this time I’m doing just 12 Days of Blogmas as it will be easier and of course we’re already partway through December so I’ve missed most of 25 days of Blogmas anyway.
Ramble over, I thought my first post would be of the books I’ve read over the last couple of months. With my course, I’ve not wanted to read too much but I’ve still needed something to dip into in the evenings.
Right now, I’m coming to you with a bit of a life update. I don’t usually share this on the blog because despite what my Twitter ramblings might say, I do believe there should be a boundary between what we do and do not share about our lives, but this time, I have to cross it as it is already starting to affect my reading and blogging.
I haven’t done one for a while, not a monthly one in any case, so it is nice to have one to write up again!
October has been a full-on, overwhelming month. When I get overwhelmed I tend to bring myself back down to earth by buying books, Switch games, and/or anything else that is relatively calming. It works a treat, so much so, I acquired more books than I wanted to. But these things happen and I won’t complain about it.
I’m back today with a TAG I came across on Kira Jeanette‘s blog – a spooky variation of the “Would You Rather/This or That” kind of tag that is absolutely perfect for October and Halloween. It was originally created by The Book Pusher on YouTube so go and check out both posts/videos.
Back in April, I discussed and went through the pros and cons I personally felt in regards to Audible and Scribd as audiobook providers. I was getting frustrated with Audible over a couple of issues and at the end of all that I came to the conclusion that Scribd would be the better service for me.
However, we are now a few months down the line from that discussion and I’ve realised I may have been a little hasty in my disapproval of Audible and high praise of Scribd.
Autumn is now in full swing and over the last couple of weeks or so, I’ve seen a few Autumn TBRs floating around the blogosphere. Now, we know by now on here that I am not really a TBR person. I have to let my mood dictate what I read. However, at this time of year, I do tend to gravitate towards mysteries, the supernatural, nitty-gritty storylines and books that possess a gothic-like atmosphere, and I have quite a few of them on my shelves.
For those of us who read and re-read books, there’s always a hope that we can re-read books from our childhood and revisit what made them special for us. The thing is, we are constantly changing as readers and the books we loved as children and teenagers, might not be ones we’d reach for as adults. It is a fact that hurts, but it is true. On the other hand, we might find something even more special about those old books today which sparks new life and joy into them.
No, this isn’t a December book tag being written and published early, despite the fact when I last did this tag it was December.
This time I’m doing it at the right time of the year which, looking at some of the questions, is around the start of Autumn. It was created by Ariel Bissett over on YT so go and check out her original video from a couple of years ago.
