The Anonymous Bookaholics Tag

I didn’t think I’d be back with another Tag post relatively quickly after the Summer Book Tag but I found this one over at Dusk Angel Reads and really liked it. It’s more on the side of book buying and longing, which I don’t often see, so even though it’s another tag there is a nice balance to the questions rather than that repetitiveness of other tags.

Let’s just dive right in!

What do you like about buying new books?

When I buy a book I like the feeling that I could be holding a new favourite book, or that there is a new world to discover and for that moment, it is just for me.

How often do you buy new books?

I’m trying to not actively buy books as much as I once did and simply reserve them for Christmas and birthdays. However, not long ago I did get a book box which I talk about here, and I had to order myself a book called The Octunnumi after one of the other leaders in my Brownie unit was raving about it at our most recent meeting.

Bookstore or online book shopping: which do you prefer?

I definitely prefer going into a bookstore. I find that when I browse and order online, I don’t open my eyes to all the books that are out there and the magic of being caught unaware by a striking cover or synopsis is not the same.

Do you have a favourite bookstore?

I’ve not had the luxury of discovering truly small independent bookstores (my village bookshop is both books and childrens’ toys) so I will have to say Waterstones. I do love a good Waterstones. Unfortunately my favourite of all the branches I’ve ever visited no longer exists, which makes me sad.

Do you pre-order books?

Yes I do, and it’s how I tend to get quite a few of my books at the moment.

Do you have a monthly buying limit?

As of right now, no I don’t. Because I’m not actively buying a lot of books, I don’t really think it is necessary for me to have one.

How big is your wishlist?

I would say I have a decently sized wishlist, even though I do go through it every now and then and weed out the books I’ve forgotten about or decide I no longer want.

Which 3 books from your wishlist do you wish to own right now?

The Absolute Book by Elizabeth Knox – I heard mixed things about this when it came out earlier this year but it’s still one I’m dying to read. It’s quite a chunky book so I’m waiting until the paperback releases as I struggle reading the larger hardcovers.

The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams – Everything about this screams me and what I’m after in a Historical Fiction. It’s a book I specifically want to pick up in a bookshop and once I’ve read some of the unread books on my shelves so it will be on my wishlist for a while.

Witchshadow – In a just world where paperbacks and hardbacks were released at the same time, this would be on my bookshelves rather than a wishlist. I have the paperback editions of Witchlands so I’m waiting and longing for that edition instead.

And those are all the questions!

Feel free to join in with the tag if you wish to do so!

As always, thanks for reading and have a brazzle dazzle day!
xx

Hello, I’m Emma aka pageturner92, and welcome to my little corner of the online book world. When I don’t have my head in a book, I’m either working on an endless pile of crochet or knitting projects, playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, listening to Disney music, or watching my favourite shows on repeat.

    1. I can understand that. Books are expensive, especially if you want to buy multiple books at once. I think those of us with access to bookshops and bookshop prices forget how privileged we are sometimes.

  1. I love going into bookstores but I find that buying online has me purchasing only books that I know I want to read, instead of letting myself stray and buy more than I intended. Going into a bookstore for me is like going into the grocery story while hungry … I always come out with more than I intended.

    Great tag and happy reading!
